Description

Some guitars are built to stay in the catalog.

Others show up briefly, remind everyone what the company is capable of, and then disappear.

The Takamine RNV460C falls squarely into the second category.

This extraordinary Japanese-made acoustic-electric is the first model in Takamine’s new Revival/R Series, created as a modern reinterpretation of the beloved TNV460C from the company's celebrated Nashville Series. Rather than simply reissuing an older guitar, Takamine took the original concept and refined it with premium tonewoods, updated electronics, and beautifully understated appointments.

And this one is genuinely scarce.

Production is expected to be approximately 100 guitars worldwide, making the RNV460C a very unusual opportunity to own the inaugural model from this new series.

So yes — “limited” actually means something here.

The RNV460C features a solid Engelmann spruce top, prized for its responsive, nuanced character, paired with a solid Indian rosewood back and Indian rosewood sides. Takamine's NEX cutaway body — essentially their refined, scaled-down jumbo shape — delivers excellent balance across the frequency range while remaining exceptionally comfortable to play.

The mahogany neck is topped with an ebony fingerboard, complete with Takamine's elegant Custom Revival inlay work. It's sophisticated without being overly flashy — which is probably the nicest possible way to say this guitar doesn't need dragons, abalone explosions, or twelve different kinds of pearl to prove it's special.

Electronics are equally serious.

Takamine equips the RNV460C with its CT4-DX preamp system paired with a factory-installed TCPU-1 contact transducer, giving players the ability to blend Takamine's proven undersaddle pickup sound with additional body resonance. The result is a stage-ready acoustic tone that retains more of the guitar's natural character when amplified.

The RNV460C manages to be two things that rarely coexist this well: a genuinely collectible instrument and a guitar you could confidently take onstage every night.

And being the first model of a new Takamine series gives it a little extra historical significance. Ten years from now, when everyone is arguing on guitar forums about which Revival model started it all, this is the one they'll be talking about.

You could put it in a collection.

You should probably play it instead.

But we certainly wouldn't blame you for staring at it for a while first.
