This 2011 PRS Custom 24 10-Top in Black Gold Burst comes from what has become something of a benchmark period for the Custom 24. For 2011, PRS gave the model several important updates, including its then-new V12 finish, updated Pattern neck profiles, uncovered 59/09 pickups, and a redesigned 5-way blade switch. It was a year where PRS took the formula that had already made the Custom 24 an icon and sharpened it into something noticeably more modern.
And then there’s the 10-Top.
PRS reserves that designation for particularly attractive figured maple tops, and paired with the Black Gold Burst finish, the result is exactly what you want from a high-end PRS: dramatic enough to get your attention from across the room, but classy enough that nobody has to explain what happened.
Underneath that maple top is the classic Custom 24 combination of a mahogany back, mahogany neck, rosewood fingerboard, 25-inch scale length, and 24 frets.
